Elizabeth began her career in Interaction Design (IxD) in San Francisco in the late '90s when she joined the staff at Cooper, the pioneering IxD consultancy. At Cooper she led projects in domains including medical devices, enterprise software, online shopping and products merging Industrial Design & IxD. She also supervised design teams and created training material, as well as teaching Cooper U.
Following Cooper, Liz spent five years leading the user experience design efforts at St. Jude Medical, a Fortune 100 medical device company. Her efforts helped to transform the product development of in-clinic cardiac rhythm management systems to focus on nurses as the primary hands-on user, gaining St. Jude Medical market share in the process.
In 2007, Liz co-founded Devise LLC with technologist Mike McAulay. They provided agile UX consulting services in the areas of user research, interaction design and software development for a wide variety of clients. After Mike left the company in 2011, Liz began focusing more directly on the healthcare and medical domains. At the start of 2012, Liz began working as a product manager for the west coast's largest hospital chain. She's thrilled to apply her talents towards defining and delivering innovative products and services in this vital industry.
Liz is passionate about the power of IxD to better the world. She is a Director Emeritus of the Interaction Design Association (IxDA), a professional organization devoted to improving the human condition, where her most visible contribution was leading the design and delivery of the IxDA.org website in 2010. Additionally, Liz has been granted multiple patents, taught workshops and spoken at conferences, and has published articles in UXmatters and interactions magazines.
In the personal realm, Elizabeth loves high-performance driving her Porsche Cayman S as well as writing poetry, drawing and spending time with her daughter and loved ones. She holds a Bachelor's degree in English and French Literature from Stanford University, and a Master's degree in Industrial Arts from San Francisco State University.
